On Justice Reform

April 4433

Wang Datong, Minister for Justice

Justice is often hard to be defined, while the harshness or leniency of the criminal justice system is an even more complex situation.

With the Citizens' Alliance's new bill, the PAP has decided to side with the CA to create a more powerful and harsh system to act as a deterrence to crime. While education and rehabilitation remains at the heart of our prisons and correctional services, punishment and force is a necessary evil to maintain order, which in turn allows education to be better rolled out.

There may never be a perfect solution to the problem of crime and correction, but the PAP believes that this new reform will be a good step forward for Indralans.

March 4432

Li Yichen, Leader of PAP

The latest election results has shown that the PAP's movement for economic freedom, traditions and pragmatism has prevailed and gained the support of the people.

We have rebounded in popular support and today, we can celebrate this fact. But after today, members of the Assembly, especially those newly elected into the chamber must work hard and uphold our principle of integrity, to deliver for all Indralans old and young.

Together, we can write a new chapter for the People's Action Party, and the great Movement for Compromise and Reason that we have inherited from our forefathers.
